Yesterday, i just found out about the record store day. Record Store Day is an internationally celebrated day on the third Saturday of April each year. The day brings together fans, artists, and the over 700 independently owned record stores in the United States, along with hundreds of independent record stores across the world.
The record store day started back in the 2007 and now celebrated globally with hundreds of recording and other artists participating in the day by making special appearances, performances, meet and greets with their fans, the holding of art exhibits, and the issuing of special vinyl and CD releases along with other promotional products to mark the occasion. cool isn’t it?
Well, in my city the record store day were celebrate only on social media. how poor is that? or maybe i just don’t know where’s the gig is. but today there is something great is happening, i came to this cafe called borneo to attend to this records community that gathered some people who collect a vinyl records and share the story in it. pretty cool eeehhh!
Ok, the first impression is quite awkward. I came alone and don’t know anybody. I looked around and everybody just talking, babbling and ignoring the stranger. Until, this man came to me and ask me “are you joining the sharing today?” well, i said “yeah, just curious” and he said “cool”.
As you see from the photo up there i collected several vinyl records on my closet. And this is the way people in Jakarta and Bandung celebrate the record store day.
Time goes by and the sharing started and there you go..suddenly i’ve got a new knowledge about the vinyl records about the history, the influence, the genre, the collectors and many more (truly, i forgot the details). And suddenly its my turn to share my vinyl records stories..i’ve got little bit nervous and i said “hi, guys…..i don’t have a expert music knowledge liked you guys..i just listen the song that i liked and buy the records, well I’m not music collector or some shit but yeah i do buy a vinyl records the song i liked ” while playing army of me from Bjork (telegram).
Well, that my story on the record store day maybe not exciting liked you guys in Europe, Japan or US. Oh yeah, i see what you guys doing on that day buying
the limited series records, the discount or some shit. well I’m not that stressing with that, quiet happy with my records now. Just like Wim Wenders said,
“Don’t spend money on therapy. Spend it in a record store.”

Happy 420 Day, for those who didn’t know 420 refers to consumption of cannabis and by extension, a way to identify oneself with cannabis subculture. Observances based on the number include the time 4:20 p.m. as well as the date April 20 (wikipedia). So are we going to meet at 4:20 on 4/20 hahaha. Roll one, smoke one, and we all just having fun.

Hmmm..this is something a Toronto filmmaker Claire Edmondson shares her April 9 birthday with both Marc Jacobs and Hugh Hefner. Creating a birthday card to them and she pointed her camera at a few sexy ladies rolling around in Jacobs’ and Hefner’s two favorite things: Louis Vuitton and um… partial nudity? Well, at least the three can agree on a genuine appreciation for the female form.
